If you have purchased any of our VDO products (previously known as Siemens VDO, which is why you will also see them listed as such), you may have noticed that some are stamped ‘Continental’ -
Depending on the part you buy, you may see different things stamped on to the part:
We have had many queries from worried customers who, upon seeing the Continental stamp, believe we have sent the wrong item or even have had their garage tell them to return the parts as they’re not genuine.
We would like to assure our customers that when we list an item as a genuine part, we are selling a genuine part.
Continental aquired Siemens VDO Automotive back in 2007 for a whopping 11.4 billion Euros, at which point they changed the name back to VDO
If you following this link you will see the following:
“VDO as a product brand of the Continental AG offers a comprehensive range of car replacement parts.”
and you can learn more about the history of the VDO brand here.
This move aimed to push Continental into the top 5 OEM parts suppliers, and was successful with them currently sitting in third behind Bosch and Magna International respectively.
